One of the most important roles at The Red Clay Theatre and Arts Center: volunteer!

Each year volunteers contribute hundreds of hours to making this professional theatre work. Volunteers bring expertise, energy and an important community connection to every job – and simply stretch what our staff and artists can do. Volunteers are respected, appreciated and made part of the Red Clay Theatre & Arts Center team. If you have a few hours or many, occasional time or regular, particular skills or a desire to learn something new – call us. We’ll match your interests with our needs.

BACK-STAGE
Ever wonder how things are done? Come serve back stage to experience the theatre in a new way and get a deeper appreciation for how all aspects work together to make a production come to life and be a success.Qualifications: Must be 16 years of age or older. No prior experience needed. Be physically capable to handle the tasks. Should be willing to commit to serve at least a full weekend or more per production.

Dresser: To assist the actors with their costume changes. Dress totally in black… long-sleeve top, long slacks… black socks and soft sole shoes. Able come to rehearsals to learn cues and what assistance is needed.

Back Stage Support: Changing the set props for the various scenes. Will be going on stage during blackouts. Dress totally in black… long-sleeve top, long slacks… black socks and soft sole shoes. Able come to rehearsals to learn cues and what assistance is needed.

FRONT HOUSE VOLUNTEERS
Qualifications: Must be 16 years of age or older. Must be willing to commit to serve at least 2 shows per production. Excellent customer service skills required. Must be friendly and personable. Must be a team player and able to work well with others.General: Volunteers greet, direct/inform, and assist guests/patrons attending a performance.

Will Call: Requires an outgoing personality to warmly greet patrons and provide them with their ticket and seating assignment. Answer any general questions they may have. Inform patrons of the play/event specifics such as length and intermission information. Be a liaison to the stage manager and box office by advising them of reservations “not yet picked up” or if the “house is ready”.

Welcome Greeters: Be at the glass doors to the Theatre entrance. Open door, welcome guests to the theatre and direct them to the BOX OFFICE and/or WILL CALL.  Answer any questions. (needed each show: 1-2)

Usher: To stand at the doors to the theatre, hand out playbill and walk the patrons to their seats, answer any questions. Be encouraging… “enjoy the show!” (needed each show: 1-2) Proper Attire: white top and black slacks or skirt.Show times: Arrive 45 minutes prior to the Show. Introduce yourself to the staff & others on the volunteer team.Personal items can be placed behind the concession stand. Jackets can be placed in the back room. Training /Instruction is provided as needed. We ask volunteers to serve until all patrons are seated and/or announcements are being made. If you have volunteered to server for two or more performances, during the current production, then you can be seated for the show or head home.

BOX OFFICE
Box Office Administration: Interview required.  General office experience to include answering phone, email's, ticket sales and providing direction and answers to general theater questions.
